ADDING NEW PROPERTIES: You will need to register as a user on our website to list property and select a suitable plan depending on the number of properties you wish to list. You can upgrade or cancel any plan at any time. Once you have set up an account, adding property is achieved by logging in and selecting the orange '+' button on the main 'Property' page. Currently a maximum of 10 photos can be added for each property and 5 PDF documents. (2 photos for the FREE test plan with 1 PDF). However we would advise that commonly 'less is more' and anything more than 4 detailed images may confuse and take longer to display the individual property details page.
NAMING NEW PROPERTIES: There were numerous factors to carefully take into account when deciding on the design concerning the titles of property records and the naming of the related URLs (web addresses) for those property pages. Simplicity, ease of use, SEO considerations, the timings of indexing of pages by search engines, presentational and layout factors and a desire to minimise '404' page not found errors, all were carefully considered. The simple result is this: You first create a new property record with a meaningful title with we suggest 35 characters maximum for the title, but 25 or less characters will display best in listings. Our advice for the title is to use the property name or first line of the street address but without the town or city. (Look at 'property title' examples already on our site.) When saved, the webpage url address for the property is automatically constructed, based on this title, but with the town or city also automatically added to it by our coding. Importantly, if you edit your new property record within 24 hours of first creating it new, then both the displayed property title and webpage address (url) for the property will reflect those edit(s) you make. After that 24 hours, if you further edit the property title (or town), the displayed title / town will still be changed, but the url webpage address for the property will remain unchanged and stay as it already is.Therefore we recommend that you finalise the title and town fields accurately as soon a possible after creating any new property record. All other property box fields are editable at any time, but there needed to be an effective way to ensure your property records could be consistently synchronised with search engines and others bookmarking, searching and referencing your records.In our view this provides automation, simplicity, good webpage url addresses for SEO (search page optimisation), reasonable presentation, and meaningful titles and urls. It also minimises the chances of changed webpage url addresses resulting in 'page not found' errors being displayed to users locating property records via search engines. i.e. It is a good solution for the vast majority of circumstances, but not completely perfect.
PROPERTY POSTAL ADDRESSES: In order to maximise the searching facilities on 'OneClick' and to make full use of the automatic geocoding and Google Maps facilities, it is important to enter property postal address-related information in an accurate and structured way: Enter the first line(s) of the property address in the 'Address line' box/field, with each address line on a separate line if there is more than one line. But only enter up to and excluding the town or city. The town(/city), county and post code should be entered in their own respective boxes and not entered in the 'Address line' box. Previously we suggested that you may want to enter the first line of the address in the property title box. If you do that, you will still need to enter the first line of the address in the address field. (+ in that address field, any other lines that appear before the town or city)
FINDING PROPERTIES: Searching for properties is easy and intuitive. You do not need to be logged in with an account and you can simply use the search bar tools on the left (or top if using mobile) to narrow down to what you are looking for. The top location box can also be used to type anything in (e.g. a town or postcode area) and the slider below it lets you specify a maximum distance from that location to further filter any search to a desired radius. All search tools can be combined. Plus if you are logged in, you can see only your listed properties by toggling the round 'Show my property' control button at the top-left of the 'Search Options' bar. And If you click-open the Map facility at the centre-top, individual property locations will show on the map as you narrow down your selections. You can also click on any map location to expand its properties in that area, and/or 'drill down' with 'oneclick' to any property's specifics.
SPEED OF WEBSITE QUERY PAGE RESULTS: In terms of the speed of response of property queries our site currently enjoys: We are keeping this under constant review with our hosting environment. Presently we have given priority of speed to property searchers not logged in and not listing property, rather than listers of property. This makes sense and In terms of transparency, this is done by some 'clever caching' on the server and browser-side for that purpose. In 'Plain English': Someone who is searching for property will be searching for things which others have commonly seached for before. That gives us the opportunity to deliver the result much faster. Conversely, a logged-in property lister will commonly be more interested in editing their own property records. i.e. their records need to be the latest edited and an accurate up-to-date version. But that means in terms of this arrangement, it will commonly be slower for them. Our view is that this is the best overall arrangement.
